انتي صامدة (She the Steadfast)

Join us for a special screening of PhD film انتي صامدة (She the Steadfast) (49 mins, 2023).

Produced by Dr Joy Stacey and developed with Palestinian women living in the West Bank between 2016-2022, She the Steadfast is a research film inspired by indigenous dress culture. Presenting a layered history of gender and identities in occupied Palestine, five collaborative women’s theatre performances are stitched together with patchwork clips of archival materials from Palestine, Palestinian diaspora and international media.

With collaborative theatre from Mariam, Su’ad, Nawal, Nihayah, Fadwa and Yara. Featuring original performances from Hanin Tarabay and Asmaa Azaizeh, and archival footage from UNRWA photo and film archive for Palestine refugees.

With grateful thanks to the Palestinian artists, filmmakers, writers and performers sampled in the film.
