NAM: Collaborative co-research project into the cultural legacy of the Vietnam War
Brief description of session and activities
The session will outline the Collaborative co-research project undertaken by staff and students from LCC Masters level courses into the cultural legacy of the Vietnam War in co-operation with the Photography and the Archive Research Centre (PARC) at UAL.
This project is part funded by JISC and involved the research team in exploring the archives of filmmaker Stanley Kubrick and journalist Phillip Knightley held at the UAL Special collections Archive and the archive of photographer Phillip Jones Griffiths. The research has been published online as part of the NAM website.
The session will explore how this collaborative co-research concept can produce public facing research outputs from MA and undergrad level students and staff working together.
How will students be involved in the session?
Students involved in the research itself will present on their experiences of working on the project.
What will participants take away from the session?
An appreciation of how the ‘cognitive surplus’ of students can be enhanced into public facing research outputs that are developed as part of the assessed curriculum.
