Teaching Award: The BA Fashion Management Diploma in Professional Studies Placement Year

Brief description of session and activities

The DIPS Placement Year offers the opportunity for students to study abroad for one term with one of BAFM’s International Partner Colleges. The objective is to encourage greater student mobility. There is a ‘Study Abroad’ session within Preparation for Industry and in 2011 Sally initiated and co-created a 10-minute BAFM Study Abroad film with two BAFM Year 1 students.

The ‘vision’ was ‘About the Students / By the Students / For the Students’; the content being primarily interviews with both incoming and outgoing Study Abroad students. This development recognised the cultural capital of all students and also included a diversity of other students speaking at the session in person about their experiences.
