Making Assessment Accessible
Brief description of session and activities
During this ‘show and tell’ session, participants will be able to discover and explore the genesis and ongoing development of UAL’s ‘Online Assessment Tool’ (OAT). OAT complements and contributes to UAL’s recent developments in assessment practice and enables tutors to provide grading and meaningful feedback to students in a format which can be easily accessed online.
The session will explore the choices made thus far in the development and refinement of OAT, together with examples of tutor and student reaction to using the tool and how these empirical insights have been incorporated in subsequent improvements and future iterations of the Online Assessment Tool. There will also be the opportunity to test the latest version of the tool. This is aligned to the theme of accessible assessment and that accessible learning.
How will students be involved in the session?
It is not currently envisaged that students will be directly involved in this session – although this possibility is by no means excluded! Student feedback and experiences of accessing grading and feedback via OAT is being captured and will be shared.
What will participants take away from the session?
How to access and use the Online Assessment Tool (OAT). An (enhanced) understanding of how digitally supported accessible grading and feedback enhances teaching and learning.
