Lessons from the Future Something Project: approaches to design pedagogy, creativity and teaching digital technology
The Future Something Project (FSP), was a two-year action research project run by Artswork 2005, with the core funding by NESTA in which the aim was to explore innovative ways to teach young people design and digital technology skills outside of mainstream education. This was approached by creating a structured network, mentored and driven by creative professionals, in non-classroom situations, with the single brief of designing a ‘future something’.
As one of my formative teaching experiences a decade ago, on critical reflection, the lessons I learned as an FSP mentor continue to inform my pedagogic approach to developing new units in BA Design Management and Cultures: where the future is now.
