Making art beyond the studio: ‘Map Different Me’ Map Drawing project
‘Map Different Me’ aims to produce mental constructions of what is miss- represented in the hegemonic accounts of those in power. It is to draw ‘new maps’ within the context of multicultural dialogues, finding out how maps function in different cultural and social contexts. Current work is done with Sandy, whom I met while teaching at Wimbledon College of Art. Beyond the teaching hours, we made a collaboration work together, to locate her own self- identity on the map through reflecting mundane life, culture, feelings, at the same time, to explore how different class, ethnicity, culture generation affects her identification.
