ReSound Project: The importance of good acoustics in spaces

In the summer of 2012, The Digital Space; designed by some of our BA Graphic & Spatial Design graduates; was opened for use by all. The design was very unique and set it apart from all other spaces. However, the fact that the design left high ceilings, pipes and conduit exposed meant that one very important aspect was forgotten: the acoustics.

In the summer of 2014 the BA Spatial Design staff & students collaborated with Marco Eastwood & London Southbank University to try and solve the problem through research & design interventions that would improve the acoustics without having to settle for poor design solutions. The paper focuses on how every aspect of a space is vital to providing an effective and productive space for creativity.
