Student Peer Mentoring: Enhancing the learning experience at UAL
Abstract
Peer Mentoring at UAL trains Student Mentors to work with first year students assisting with their transition to HE, offering peer-to-peer, practical advice as they undertake first year study, signposting them to sources of specialist advice, guidance and support. Sixteen months into the cross-university scheme, we would like to share some of the feedback from students so far, discuss some of the barriers to further development of the scheme and ask how we as coordinators can ensure that the scheme successfully meets the needs of students across the University.
