Flexibility matters: A student-centred approach to online learning
Online learning is applauded for its flexibility and potential to widen access. But what does flexibility mean for students? Our recent inquiry explored pedagogic and student experience models for online learning; we worked with over 300 learners, and over 50 colleagues. Flexibility has been a headline throughout the project; we learned how flexibility really works for students, and why it matters. In this paper we share findings from our research including feedback from learners and tutors. We will outline how our shared conceptions of flexibility for teaching, learning and the holistic student experience are developing through our collaborative partnership.
