Forget Decolonising the University, Abolish It!
The recent interest in decolonising the university, or discipline, or curriculum ... etc. i argue has achieved very little. In fact the opposite, decolonising is the latest way of 'managing diversity' in the reproduction of institutional whiteness and racial capitalism.
Decolonisation is a revolutionary idea linked to radical transformations in economics and culture. The contemporary neoliberal university is driven by the market logic of capitalism and commodity culture, with its exploitation of staff and students. Instead of decolonising, we need to abolish the contemporary university. Abolition is a utopian idea against the false hope of the decolonial.
