When the De-centred Classroom Goes Wrong!
Our task of decolonising the curriculum, decentring the classroom and developing a radical, critical and inclusive pedagogy is essential and urgent for dismantling structural inequality and working towards UAL’s anti-racism action plan. In this 45-minute session we will discuss how these good intentions went awry for students and teacher on a postgraduate Fashion Cultures and Histories course. We will explore how relinquishing the teacher’s authority can result in confusion and dissatisfaction. You are invited to take part in a conversation that explores these tensions and the challenges of decentring the classroom in a learning culture geared towards student satisfaction.
