Essays and Decolonial Pedagogies: Debates, Models, and Transformations
In this paper I will present and discuss my work as a Decolonising Arts Education Fellow working with UAL Decolonising Arts Institute and UAL Teaching, Learning and Employability Exchange. My project aims to understand the role of the Cultural Studies essay within the context of a decolonial pedagogy in an art and design institution by using Unit 5 (for Fashion, Textile and Jewellery Design BAs at CSM) as a case study. In this presentation, I will explain some of the underlying themes, literature, and methods I have been working with and discuss some of the preliminary findings.
