The Black Star Cliche-An investigation on media stereotypes of black males/it's effect on BAME students

After seeing problematic and stereotypical characters/costume designs while assessing students work go unchallenged, I wanted to find a way of mitigating this to protect and educate students. The results of my Action Research Project(entitled: How can current research on stereotypes be incorporated into teaching students to produce ethical design outcomes for black male characters in costume design for performance?)suggested that staff would like a way to confront this issue but are not sure how to. This workshop will act as an intervention and discussion on what we can do to empower our students/make changes to reduce harm.
