Session and activities

People often hear about short courses through word of mouth, reputation, and reviews, so it’s crucial to keep these standards high for success. Short courses also reflect the whole university, as over 1/4 of university enrolments each year are for short courses. Without the measure of success in qualification achievement, how do Short Courses ensure that their learners experience good quality Teaching and Learning?

Over the last academic year, UALSC has developed the “Pillars of Quality”. A simple framework of expectations and advice was created to support the development and delivery of good quality of Teaching and Learning.

The pillars are not something to be rigidly adhered to, with a tick box completion of each point, and may not apply to all courses. But they are to provide guidance for tutors and to support UALSC staff when planning courses and addressing complaints and poor feedback for a course or class. This session will outline the Pillars and how they have been shared and utilised within UALSC so far.
