Knit Happens: crafting glimmers in the library

flip session

Abstract

This session invites you to experience Knit Happens: Spin, Craft, Create, a fortnightly initiative that takes place in the LCF Library. Colleagues are invited to take a creative break, work with their hands, and learn about the student experience. Through making together, the session explores how these activities are ways of researching, learning and building community, while creating small moments of calm and connection that support wellbeing.

Session and activities

Spend 30minutes and take a creative break with Helen and Billie to turn something you already have into something with an exciting new function.

  • With Helen you can make what you bring into hairclips, rings, brooches, keychains, charms
  • With Billie you can turn your pen or pencil into a yarn spinning spindle and have a go at spinning some wool with it

To take part you need to bring something to make with:

  • Pen/pencil/writing utensil
  • A CD/DVD, plastic bottle lids
  • Plastic or stuffed toys or objects hanging around the home – i.e. lego, happy meal delights! Charity shop bits and bobs

*Nothing bigger than the palm of your hand

*All items you bring you must be willing to alter
