The unit explicitly creates space within the curriculum, at an appropriate point in the student journey, to showcase wider enhancement activities. It also supports students in developing an awareness of the Graduate Outcomes survey, helping UAL gain broader representation of post-graduation activity.
Equity is advanced by making opportunities clearer and more visible across CCW, while also creating a sustainable delivery model. This allows teams to provide meaningful activity at scale, within limited specialist capacity, without relying on fully bespoke provision for every course.
The team, including the CCW Showcase team, Careers and Employability, Academic Support, and students, will present a case study from Unit 9, Professional Futures. The new unit will be undertaken by Stage 3 undergraduate students across all courses at CCW in the next academic year (2026/27). Unit 9 provides a 20-credit space in which third-year students engage with professional development and reflect on their learning.
To support delivery of the unit, the teams have introduced a menu approach to activate content from a diverse range of stakeholders. This approach enables students to self-select relevant sessions and build additional skills and evidence throughout the unit. This affords students a sense of choice and recognises the broader contexts in which they will apply their learning post-graduation.
The approach offers flexibility within the curriculum to suit the needs of the multiple disciplines being supported (Art, Design, and Performance), while also recognising the capacity of the teams delivering the provision.
The session will unpack the offer created in response to the launch of Unit 9. This will be shared through a PowerPoint presentation supported by members of the teams and will amplify the student voice.
