Lucía Conejero Rodilla is a multidisciplinary artist trained in Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, and in Scenography at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, UK (MA with Distinction). She is also trained in pattern cutting, dance, music, and circus.
Her art is greatly inspired by the human body and influenced by her research on pushing boundaries of materials and techniques, as well as the use of sustainable materials and systems.
Lucía has worked in the Costume Departments of the ‘Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía’ (Valencia Opera House) and the National Youth Theatre (London). She has also been the artistic director, designer, and maker for music videos and live concerts for the band ‘La Pulqueria’ (Sony-BMG), for theatre and opera productions such as ‘Woman Bomb’ (Tristan Bates), ‘The Moonflower’ at Tête à Tête Festival (Riverside Studios), ‘Sumptuous Supper’ by Edible Opera (English National Opera), and for directors such as Edward Bond.
She has exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Whitechapel Gallery, State Historical Museum of Moscow and Prague Quadrennial, among others. Her work has been featured in the BBC, MTV, The Rolling Stone Magazine, TVE1, TVE2, London Design Festival, etc. She has been shortlisted for the London International Creative Competition 2015 and was selected to represent the UK in the Prague Quadrennial 2015, where UK won the Special Jury Award.
Lucía has been a Lecturer in Costume Design at the University of the Arts London and is a Visiting Lecturer in Costume Design at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
